Luanda – Angola is taking part as an observer in the G20 foreign ministers' meeting taking place on Wednesday in Brasilia, Brazil, centred, among other things, on resolving conflicts in Palestine and Ukraine, as well as reforming global governance.
According to a press release ANGOP had access to, the Angolan delegation is headed by the Minister of State for Economic Coordination, José de Lima Massano, assisted by Secretary of State for Cooperation and Communities, Custódio Vieira Lopes.
The note states that as part of this meeting, with the aim of aligning action strategies and their preparation, on Tuesday José de Lima Massano held a brief meeting with members of the Angolan delegation and then visited the Angolan Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro.
As president of the G20, Brazil established priorities, social inclusion, hunger and poverty fighting, promotion of sustainable development and the reform of global governance institutions.
The Group of Twenty (G20) brings together the world's 19 largest economies, plus the European Union and, as from 2024, the African Union, whose main task is to support growth and development through the international financial architecture and governance on major global economic issues.
The organisation is made up of South Africa, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, South Korea, the United States, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Russia and Turkey.
The G20 is currently led by Brazil, which will remain in office until November this year, when the Summit of Heads of State and Government takes place in Rio de Janeiro.
