Luanda - Angola participated on Tuesday in Accra, Ghana, in the VI Ordinary Session of Heads of State and Government of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (CGG), with a delegation headed by the Minister of Defence and Veterans of the Fatherland, João Ernesto dos Santos 'Liberdade'.
The meeting was chaired by the Ghana Minister of Defense, Dominic Nitiwul, representing the Ghanaian Head of State, Nana Dankwa Akufo Addo, who is also the GGC President.
The event assessed and approved the report on the activities of the Executive Secretariat in the period from May 2023 to June 2024, highlighting the decisions of the III Extraordinary Session of the GGC held on April 25, 2023, in Accra, in favor of expanding the number of Commission members for all 19 coastal States in the region.
In this sense, a greater impact was expected in the revision of the Treaty establishing the Commission and in the revitalization of its actions, taking into account the persistent threats in the region.
The meeting also considered the recommendations of the Council of Ministers listed on the report, with the adoption of the Commission's Action Plan and the Budget for 2024, and the actions recommended in the report on the activities of the Executive Secretariat between 2023 and 2024.
