Luanda – An Angolan delegation is attending the conference of the Chiefs of Staff of the African Armed Forces taking place from February 28 to March 2, 2023 in Rome (Italy).
The event is sponsored by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM), under the theme “how our combined resources and requirements affect our reality, reputation and responses”.
The Angolan entourage is led by the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), Altino Carlos José dos Santos, states a press release from the Institutional Press Office of the Angolan Embassy in Italy, sent this Tuesday to ANGOP.
The forum brings together senior African military leaders who will address, among other issues, the challenges and opportunities for considering general responses and strengthening the relationships that shape the security environment in Africa.
Strengthening partnerships to respond to the challenges of climate change, food insecurity, violent extremist threats and groups seeking to undermine the governance and security will also be in the table at this event.
AFRICOM, in its English acronym, is one of the nine regional unified combat commands of the United States Armed Forces, created in 2007 by the American Department of Defence.
It has its headquarters in Kelley, Stuttgart, Germany, and is responsible for the operations, military and security ties of the United States of America and 53 African countries.
This command coordinates and implements US policies on the African continent in terms of defence and security, with emphasis on preventing and combating terrorism, by strengthening the armies of partner countries in the region.
The Angolan delegation arrived in Rome on Sunday.
The delegation visited the diplomatic missions facilities in the Italian State, where it was received by Ambassador Maria de Fátima Jardim.
The delegation was also received by Ambassador Paulino Baptista, during its visit to the Holy See. OHA
