Luanda - President João Lourenço inaugurated on Monday the Barra do Dande Ocean Terminal (TOBD) in Bengo Province, with a storage capacity of 580,000 cubic meters of gasoline and diesel and 102,000 cubic meters of cooking gas.
This is a strategic infrastructure for the country's oil sector, given its role in strengthening national energy security, which will make the operations of the National Oil Company (Sonangol) more efficient and safer.
Before cutting the ribbon and unveiling the plaque for the US$642 million oil project, the Head of State, accompanied by First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço and other officials, watched a video on the history of the infrastructure and took a guided tour of the terminal.
The TOBD will meet the country's fuel needs and, given its existing capacity, will also make the reception and distribution of refined products safer, more efficient and less costly.
With the commissioning of this infrastructure, Angola will have more onshore fuel storage capacity, which is a significant gain and a major step forward in solving the country's logistical challenges.
The project will allow the creation of strategic security reserves of liquid fuels and space for the commercialization of storage services in the region, enabling the country to increase its current onshore storage capacity by 580,000 cubic meters.
