Luanda - Republic of Angola on Saturday urged the parties involved in the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine to observe a ceasefire.
A press release from the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the parties must strive for the peaceful resolution of the conflict.
The document points to political dialogue as the path for resolution of the conflict, in respect of international law and as enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations.
It underlines that the "Republic of Angola is following with concern the new developments in the conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine".
The Angolan government warns that the conflict, in addition to causing human and material damage, has resulted in a climate of tension between the two countries, with international proportions.
Angola announces plans to evacuate its citizens in Ukraine
In another note, the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that it is working with its diplomatic representations accredited in Russia and Poland on the evacuation of Angolans residing in the affected areas.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola will do everything to safeguard the lives of its citizens residing in Ukraine", the document reads.
