Luanda – Angola’s Ombudswoman Florbela Araújo Tuesday met with the four sector "Ombudsmen", during which they addressed aspects related to the laying foundations for institutional cooperation.
They are the Ombudsmen for the Flemish Federal Region, Wallonia and the Walloon-Brussels Federation, the president of the Belgian Network
of Ombudsmen and the Mediator of Brussels.
The participants exchanged experience and shared good practices, according to a press note from Ombudsman’s Office.
At the meeting, the Angolan ambassador accredited to Belgium, Mário Constantino, briefed on Angolans residing in Belgium.
The diplomat was informed about the structure and functioning of the different Ombudsmen of the Kingdom of Belgium.
In the afternoon, Florbela Araújo held talks with the two Presidents of the Constitutional Court. They are the French-speaking Region, Pierre Nihoul and that of the Flemish Region, Luc Lavrysen.
The two Presidents highlighted the role of the Angolan Ombudsperson, both nationally and internationally.
Speaking to the local press, Florbela Araújo spoke of the purpose of her visit to that European country, having shared the role of the citizen's defence institution.
On Wednesday, the Ombudsman was expected to meet with the director of the Federal Institute of Human Rights and with the President of the Chamber of Representatives of Belgium. AL/TED/NIC
