Luanda - Angola is committed to promoting world peace, through dialogue and conflict prevention, the National Director of Defence Policy of the Ministry of National Defence and Veterans of Homeland, Barbosa Epalanga said Tuesday in Luanda.
The Army Major General was speaking during the accreditation ceremony of Defence attachés of Nigerian and Turkish Embassies in Angola, stating that the country has always been guided by world peace at all costs, but without preconditions.
On Tuesday, the Ministry of National Defence and Veterans of the Homeland officially accredited the Defence Attachées of the Republics of Nigeria and Turkey.
They are Captain of Sea and War Badamasi Ishaq Yahuza, and Lieutenant Colonel Kömür Çelik, respectively.
The Angolan official said that this activity is part of the strengthening of diplomatic ties that Angola has with the two countries, stressing that both are very important because, from a geostrategic point of view, they are represented in important organisations in Africa and in the world.
As an example, the official mentioned Nigeria as a regional power, inserted in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and in the Gulf of Guinea.
As for Turkey, he acknowledged, it is a country belonging to Asia and Europe, with a stable economy and a very developed industry and an active member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO).
To conclude, the National Director stressed that the Republic of Angola is concerned about the proliferation of terrorism and the unconstitutional changes that have arisen in the African continent.
Epalanga recalled that at the initiative of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, and with the support of the African Union, a summit on the subject took place in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
Angola/Nigeria
Political and diplomatic relations between Angola and Nigeria date back to 1975. The two countries are members of the African Union Peace and Security Council (CPS-AU), the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC) and Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
The two countries maintain excellent bilateral cooperation relations, especially in the Political-Diplomatic, Defense and Security, Oil, Education, Culture and Transport domains.
Angola / Turkey
Diplomatic and cooperation relations between Angola and Turkey are considered good and both governments have made efforts to increase bilateral cooperation in the most varied areas.
In addition to other instruments, the two states have signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the aeronautical authorities, as well as a Verbal Process of the I Session of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic and Technical Cooperation.
