Luanda - The secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, reaffirmed this Tuesday, in Geneva, Switzerland, Angola's engagement in the fight to meet the desires of the youth of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).
The secretary of State, who was participating in a consultation meeting of the Group of CPLP Ambassadors, at the UN Offices, highlighted the fact that young people constitute the driving force of the member countries of the Portuguese-speaking community.
For Esmeralda Mendonça, it is necessary to continue to support and invest heavily in CPLP youth, especially in the areas of training, employment and housing, fundamental social conditions to guarantee social stability.
On the other hand, she reiterated Angola's support for the presidency of São Tomé and Príncipe in the CPLP and pointed out that the motto "Youth and Sustainability" fits perfectly with the priorities promoted by the two previous agendas, namely, "mobility" and "economic cooperation," defended, respectively, by Cabo Verde and Angola.
The meeting was called by São Tomé and Príncipe, in its capacity as acting president of the Organization, on the sidelines of the 74th Session of the Executive Committee of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, which takes place from the 9th to the 13th of this month, at the Palace of Nations, in Geneva.
Six of the nine member states of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) participated in the consultation meeting, namely Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Mozambique, Portugal and São Tomé and Príncipe.
The Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe assumed the presidency of the CPLP during the XIV Conference of Heads of State and Government, on August 27th of this year, in the city of Príncipe.
