Luanda - Angola and Zimbabwe meet on Monday in Luanda to discuss political-diplomatic, economic-business and defense and security issues, as part of the II Session of the Bilateral Commission between the two member countries of the southern African region.
According to a press release, the meeting will run until Tuesday at technical level and will prepare the Ministerial Summit scheduled for May 15, 32 years after the last working meeting in 1992.
Opening the work, the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, said that the countries have strong historical ties of friendship and brotherhood.
For the diplomat, these ties translate into political, economic, cultural and other cooperation, where common interests have always prevailed.
He said that the leaders of the two states, in their public speeches, have emphasized that political relations between Angola and Zimbabwe are excellent, however, there is an urgent need to assess economic, commercial and business relations.
This 2nd Session of the Angola-Zimbabwe Bilateral Commission is another opportunity to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation that characterize the assessment of good political and diplomatic relations between countries and peoples, in the spirit of African solidarity and brotherhood.
Angola and Zimbabwe have enjoyed friendship and political-diplomatic relations for more than four decades. VIC/DAN/AMP
