Luanda - Angola and the Republic of Vietnam kicked off on Tuesday, in the former’s capital, Luanda, the technical meeting in preparation for the 7th Session of the Bilateral Cooperation Commission, during which they began to draw up guidelines for the resumption of relations in the political, diplomatic, economic, business fields among others.
According to a note to which ANGOP has had access, at the opening the director of International Cooperation of the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Carlos Sardinha Dias, said that the holding of this 7th Angola-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Meeting, whose ministerial session takes place on Thursday (28), demonstrates once again that the bilateral political and diplomatic relations are very solid.
He added that they also serve as a platform for expressing the parties' interest in working together, exchanging experiences, sharing challenges and knowledge, in order to encourage trade between small and medium-sized companies.
The director revealed that such actions could help increase the volume of business between the two countries, which is still quite incipient.
In his opening speech on this first day of technical work, Carlos Sardinha issued a special invitation to Vietnamese business groups to look at the Angolan market as a place full of opportunities to do business.
Speaking in his capacity as co-chairman of the organization, the government official said that the institutional support of the Angolan state for the Vietnamese business people is guaranteed, taking into account the holding of the meeting which serves to outline the guidelines for revitalising and boosting cooperative relations between the two states.
At this 7th Bilateral Cooperation Meeting, the technical groups from Angola and Vietnam are analysing and debating the four most important sectors of the Angolan economy and those of greatest interest to investors, namely Agriculture, Tourism, Logistics Infrastructure, Telecommunications, Information and Communication Technologies, Finance and Banking.
During the talks, the parties concluded that there are several attractive scenarios that the Angolan market offers for foreign investors, as a result of the policies carried out by the Angolan Executive, and so this meeting serves to reinforce the call for Vietnamese entrepreneurs to assess and explore the market, join synergies with national entrepreneurs, assess comparative advantages and turn challenges into opportunities to leverage the economies of both countries.
The technical meeting of the 7th Angola-Vietnam Bilateral Cooperation Meeting was co-chaired by the director of International Cooperation of the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, Pham Quang Hung.
According to the event's programme, at the end the parties will be able to sign eight legal instruments in the fields already identified.
However, in addition to these instruments, the action plan for implementing the programmes and commitments to be signed also includes the creation of the Angola-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce.
