Luanda - Angola and Tajikistan are working to sign a Memorandum of Political Consultations, the Angolan ambassador to this Asian country, Augusto Cunha said on Sunday.
According to the Angolan diplomat, the document could be signed on the sidelines of the Dushanbe Conference, where the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, participates, if the parties so understand, to actually begin cooperation between the two countries.
"Tajikistan was part of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and when it disintegrated, it became an independent country. We had a cooperation agreement with the Soviet Union, signed shortly after National Independence, and with this disintegration there was a need to see each other again with Tajikistan", he highlighted.
Regarding Angolans in Tajikistan, the ambassador, who is placed in Moscow, made it known that there are no current registers, but that, in the past, there were some citizens who studied during the Soviet Union.
The diplomat said that, in Russia, there are 1,200 students.
The Dushanbe conference will unfold into three major moments.
