Nairobi - Kenya and Angola have inked 11 bilateral agreements aimed at strengthening their bilateral cooperation at a ceremony chaired by the Presidents of both countries, respectively, João Lourenço and William Ruto.
These are agreements in the fields of health, maintenance and conservation of animal life, maritime transport, agriculture, tourism, geology and mining, petroleum, youth, diplomacy and capacity building in the field of public administration and information and communication technology.
After the signing of the agreements, the President of Angola, João Lourenço, highlighted the importance of them for bringing the two peoples closer.
The Head of State said that Angola is open to providing all support to help the Kenya developing its oil industry.
These Memorandums of Understanding demonstrate the interest of both states.
João Lourenço said that cooperation in the area of tourism will allow Angola to learn from Kenya's experience for the development of the Okavango Zambezi project.
In the transport sector, the President stressed the need to resume the air connection between Nairobi and Luanda, with the two flag companies, in order to increase trade.
In this sense, he welcomed Kenya's initiative to unilaterally sign the visa suppression agreement on all passports, guaranteeing that it will be reciprocal, as the Angolan government only needs to make a few adjustments to align with the same idea.
He admitted that it is necessary to correct the current situation in which exports and imports are more focused on continents other than Africa.
For this reason, he said that trade between Angola and Kenya should increase substantially, and the regional integration that is taking place in East Africa should be extended to other regions of the continent.
