Luanda - The Foreign Ministries of Angola and Peru on Monday in Lima signed a memorandum of understanding for the establishment of political consultations.
In a statement, the Angolan embassy in Brazil said that the document provided, amongst other things, for initiatives of bilateral interest, without specifying, and marked the beginning of a new era in bilateral cooperation.
The document was signed on behalf of Angola by ambassador Florêncio de Almeida, while Ana Santamaria, secretary general of the Peruvian Foreign Relations Ministry, signed on behalf of the Latin America country.
At the occasion, Florêncio de Almeida stated that the first step has been taken and that others will follow, with a view to a General Cooperation Agreement.
In her turn, Ana Santamaria highlighted the importance of the act and expressed her country's intention to consolidate the partnership.
It is foreseen that Ambassador Florêncio de Almeida will also present, today, to President Pedro Castilho, the letters that accredit him as Non Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Peru.
