Luanda - An Angolan delegation led by the secretary of state for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, is since Monday in Panama City for a five-day working visit to analyze and strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas with authorities from that country.
According to a note to which ANGOP had access, the agenda of the multisectoral delegation's visit includes a bilateral meeting at the Panama´s Foreign Affairs Ministry, a meeting with Angolan children who are under special protection at the SOS Children's Villages, as well as a visit to the headquarters of Panama's Export and Investment Promotion Authority (ProPanama).
Felisberto dos Prazeres Martins, director of the Angolan Foreign Affairs Ministry (MIREX) in the Americas, Carlos Sardinha Dias, ambassador of Angola to the Republic of Cuba, ambassador Maria Filomena do Rosário Neto, director-general of the Institute of Angolan Communities Abroad and Consular Services (ICAESC), Maria Elisa de Jesus Gourgel, deputy director of the National Children's Institute (INAC), Daniel Francisco, Chief Superintendent of Migration and Foreigners Services (SME), among other diplomatic officials, make up the Angolan interministerial delegation
The two countries are to sign a General Agreement on Scientific, Technical, Educational and Cultural Cooperation in 2024 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. It was signed by the Angolan Foreign minister, Téte António, and his Panamanian counterpart.
The Agreement, valid for five years, is automatically renewable for equal and successive periods, unless one of the parties expresses its intention to terminate it, which must be done in writing, at least six months in advance, through diplomatic channels.
Panama is a Central American country located on the isthmus that connects North and South America. The country is the second largest economy in the region.
The Panama Canal is located within its territory, an artificial waterway that connects the Atlantic and Pacific oceans and is an important source of income for the country.
