Lubango – A cooperation protocol to standardize the proposal on visa exemption for diplomatic, service and ordinary passports between Angola and Namibia was signed this Thursday in Lubango.
This is the proposal to amend numbers three and four of article 2 of the respective project signed by the director general of the Foreigners and Migration Service (SME) of Angola, chief migration commissioner João da Costa Dias, and the head of migration of Namibia, Nehemia Nghishekwa.
Speaking after the signing of the protocol, at the end of the II Bilateral Meeting between the two bodies, the director general of the SME, chief migration commissioner João da Costa Dias, considered that the "excellent" relations between the two countries presuppose privileged conditions for the adoption of concerted action mechanisms and the management of migratory flows at the common border.
He highlighted that the agreement will allow for several visits to be carried out along the river border, so he considers it imperative to carry out joint actions at the posts of Monte Negro, Garota Nova, Opupa and Shimunga.
He said that the bilateral meetings between the SME of Angola and the Directorate of Immigration and Citizenship Control of Namibia reflect the strategy of the authorities of the neighbouring two countries, with a view to strengthening concertation and the harmonious management of migratory flows.
Namibia's Head of Immigration, Nehemia Nghishekwa, considered the signing of the protocol as salutary, so that the movement of people and goods between the two countries through the bordering areas is a fact.
Regarding the operation of the Santa Clara-Oschicango border post, he defended the implementation of an action program on the Angolan side, to facilitate access between the two countries peoples, 24 hours a day, since the roads will be open without constraints.
Angola and Namibia share an 1,367 kilometers land and sea border.
