Luanda - Governments of Angola and Namibia signed Monday in Windhoek, Namibia, a Cooperation Protocol on Police Matters.
ANGOP learned that the aforementioned legal instrument was signed by the Angolan Interior Minister, Eugénio Laborinho, and his Namibian counterpart, Albert Kawana.
Eugénio Laborinho stressed the strong historical and cultural ties between Angola and Namibia. The minister also spoke of strong identity of points of view which date back to the beginnings of national independence".
In turn, the Namibian minister took the opportunity to thank “Angola's unstoppable support for Namibian people”, which he described as crucial for the independence of his country.
The signed Protocol aims, among other objectives, to establish the domains and forms of police cooperation based on the existing agreement on matters of public order.
The agreement signed on Monday covers areas such as public order management, prevention and combating of terrorism, road safety, investigation of cyber crimes, nautical patrol, assembly of police vehicles and others.
Namibia thanked the Angolan government for opening its borders, as many citizens who depend on cross-border trade are experiencing great difficulties.
