Luanda - Angola and Madagascar exchanged notes on Monday in Antananarivo to establish diplomatic relations, as well as a joint statement.
According to a press release, the documents were initialed by the Malagasy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rasata Rafavavitafika, and Ambassador Domingos Coelho, representing the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António.
The note states that the parties have concluded negotiations to sign the 'general cooperation framework agreement', 'memorandum of understanding on political consultations' and 'suppression of visas in diplomatic and service passports', to be signed by the respective ministers at a date and place to be agreed.
The joint statement states that with the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two States now have the opportunity to relaunch cooperation.
It states that high-level official visits and accreditation of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors will be carried out.
On the other hand, the government of Madagascar expressed interest in cooperating with Angola in the areas of mineral resources, agriculture, fisheries and education. FMA/VIC/DOJ
