Luanda - Angola and Liberia on Friday, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), expressed the need to implement existing legal cooperation instruments and broaden bilateral relations and identify new and pragmatic actions of common interest, a diplomatic source told ANGOP.
The intention was expressed by Angola's ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU), Miguel César Bembe, and his Liberian counterpart, Louise Sharene Manaweh Bailey, during a meeting at the Angolan embassy in which they analyzed the state of bilateral cooperation.
In September 2011, both countries signed a General Agreement for Cooperation in the Economic, Commercial, Technical, Scientific and Cultural Domains and the Memorandum of Understanding on the Establishment of Political Consultation Mechanism between the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Liberian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On 27 May 2022, the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, and his Liberian counterpart, George Weah, met in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, on the sidelines of the African Union Extraordinary Summit on Humanitarian Issues and Donors Conference, during which they discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations.
