Luanda - Angola and the Maldives Islands analysed Friday the increase of cooperation relations in the political, diplomatic, economic and trade areas.
This was during a telephone conversation the Angolan Foreign minister Téte António held with Maldives counterpart Abdula Sharid.
The leaders also focused on the issue related to the integration of that Indian Ocean country as a full member of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS).
Minister Abdulla Sharid requested Angola’s support for the candidacy of the Maldives Islands.
Abdulla Sharid had been in Angola from 11 to 14 May, as President of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
At the time, he visited Cunene province to learn of the operation of the Cafu canal (system to transfer water from the Cunene River) and the implementation of the Government's programme to combat desertification and drought in the south of the country.
In Luanda, he visited the "Venâncio de Moura " Diplomatic Academy, where he interacted with students on issues related to peace and security, climate change and the reform of the United Nations.
