Accra - Angolan Vice President Bornito de Sousa predicted a new era in the Angola - Ghana relationship, with the revival of cooperation between the two countries.
Speaking to the press, before leaving Accra on Friday, Bornito de Sousa said the visit to Angola of President Nana Akufo-Addo in August 2019 will help build these closer ties.
"Some agreements were signed and, unfortunately, Covid's situation in 2020 led to reduction in the implementation of these measures," he said.
The Vice-President said that he discussed Angola/Ghana closer relations with the various Ghanaian entities during his stay in the West African country.
After highlighting the political transformations in Ghana, Bornito de Sousa underlined the spirit of reconciliation that reigned in the independent country since 1957.
The Vice President Bornito de Sousa left the Ghana’s capital, Accra, back to Luanda, after having participated in the inauguration ceremony of the re-elected President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Bornito de Sousa attended the inauguration ceremony of the Ghana’s president on Thursday on behalf of the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço.
In addition to witnessing the event, Bornito de Sousa was bearing a message from João Lourenço, to his counterpart Nana Akufo-Addo.
In Accra, the Vice-President also held meetings with the African Union Commission chairman, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and the Secretary General of the African Continental Free Trade Area, Makele Mene, and visited the Embassy of Angola to the West African country.
Bornito de Sousa arrived in Accra on Wednesday afternoon, at the head of a delegation that included the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Esmeralda da Silva Mendonça, and senior officials of his Office.
