Luanda - Angola and the United States of America intend to reach the desired level of excellence in bilateral relations, in addition to the positive results achieved in the strategic cooperation in certain sectors.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which ANGOP received, the statement was made Thursday afternoon in the U.S. capital, Washington, during a working meeting between Angola's Foreign Affairs minister, Téte António, and the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken.
According to the two top diplomats, the degree of cooperation between the two countries needs to be raised to the highest level, through an agenda that allows for regular political consultations and attracting more American companies and technology to the Angolan market.
At the meeting, Angola expressed desire to deepen and consolidate existing ties of cooperation between the two countries based on mutual respect and benefits.
The two parties also discussed issues related to climate change and renewable energy, an ongoing project in Angola, and the demining plan, especially in the Okavango basin, as well as the promotion of ecotourism, says the note.
Angola’s minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, on behalf of the Angolan Head of State, took the opportunity to express "the deepest condolences for the death of 19 children, two adults and multiple wounded" as a result of a massacre that occurred in one of the elementary schools in the state of Texas.
