Luanda - The visit of Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to Angola, which arrived in Luanda on Tuesday, is expected to intensify relations between the two countries and strengthen bilateral cooperation.

ANGOP has learnt that the two Presidents will analyse the political, social and economic development of their countries, as well as regional and continental issues of common interest.

In the scope of the partnership between the two African states, Angola considers it crucial to boost, extend and consolidate bilateral cooperation in the political, diplomatic, defence, security, public order, terrorism, sports, economy, health, education, oil and gas fields.

Angola plans to hold the First Meeting of the Bilateral Cooperation between both countries, on a date to be agreed upon later.

For this purpose, it is planned to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in security, public order, transport, management and development of groundwater.

Cooperation between Angola and Egypt

The political and diplomatic cooperation relations between both countries were established on March 26th, 1987, through the signing, in Luanda, of the General Agreement of Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation.

ANGOP has also learnt that there is great interest in Angola and Egypt to increase cooperation in the sectors of economy, trade and industry, education, higher education and technical and vocational training, energy and water, banking and finance, agriculture and fisheries.

The two countries are also committed to preparing the first session of the Bilateral Commission, which will evaluate the cooperation and establish the implementation process of the legal diplomas in force.

The Bilateral Commission meeting will allow for the identification of new areas of cooperation, taking into account the potentialities of Angola and Egypt.

Egyptian companies were among the first to provide important support to the Angolan government's program to fight covid-19, having supplied several biosafety equipment, hospital disposable products and 200 million kwanzas.
