Luanda - Angolan Head of State João Lourenço receives on Monday in Luanda his Cuban counterpart Miguel Mário Diaz-Canel Bermúdez to review the state of cooperation relations between the two countries, united by historical, friendship and solidarity ties.
Bermúdez arrived in Luanda on Sunday for a 48-hour state visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation, through the signing of partnership agreements in various areas of common interest.
According to an official statement, the Cuban leader begins his programme with a morning visit to the Memorial of Dr. António Agostinho Neto, where he will sign the book of honour in honor of the founder of the Angolan nation.
The meeting with his Angolan counterpart will be followed by official talks between the delegations of the two countries, before the signing of legal instruments and joint statements to the press.
In the afternoon, Bermúdez will address the National Assembly in Luanda, in a solemn session to honour his first visit to Angola as President of the Republic and the third of a Cuban Head of State.
Miguel Bermúdez will also lay a wreath at the grave of Cuban commander Raúl Diaz Arguelles Garcia, at the Alto das Cruzes cemetery, in Luanda, before meeting the former Angolan students in Cuba.
The Cuban statesman leaves Luanda on Tuesday evening, bound for Mozambique in pursuit of his tour of the African continent which should also take him to South Africa.
In the last country, the Cuban leader will participate, as a guest, in the summit of heads of state and government of the bloc of emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS). JM/IZ/NIC
