Luanda - Angola and Côte d'Ivoire Thursday in Luanda expressed interest in establishing "ambitious and fruitful" cooperation in the areas of defense and security, agriculture, fisheries, transport, telecommunications, health, oil and the environment.
According to the joint communiqué from the First Session of the Joint Cooperation Commission, sent to ANGOP, the parties are interested in identifying new areas and developing projects of common interest.
The two sides expressed desire to contribute to the development of the African continent and to preserve peace and stability, including in the Great Lakes Region.
The delegations led by the heads of diplomacy of the two countries, namely Téte António (Angola) and Léon Kacou Adom (Côte d'Ivoire), praised the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
It also praised the high esteem and respect that characterizes relations between the Heads of State of Angola and Côte d'Ivoire, João Lourenço and Alassane Outtara respectively.
The two countries expressed satisfaction with the progress made in negotiations in various areas of cooperation since the signing of the General Cooperation Agreement between the two countries on June 19, 1985 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire.
They praised the leading role of President João Lourenço, as the African Union's Champion for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, as well as Côte d'Ivoire's vision for an emerging, stable and prosperous Africa, and praised the leadership of President Alassane Ouattara.
At the meeting, the two ministers renewed the unwavering commitment to the principles of international law, legality and respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the states.
It welcomed the efforts of the African continent and its partners to combat terrorism, local conflicts and extremism, as well as their willingness to mutually support each other's candidacies in the international system.
