Luanda - Angola and Burundi on Thursday in the Province of Luanda held a preparation meeting for the first Session of the Bilateral Cooperation Commission.
The work meeting took place in a virtual format and was coordinated by the director of International Cooperation of the Angolan Foreign Ministry, Carlos Sardinha and by the Director General of Bilateral Relations of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Burundi, Ernest Niyokindi.
On the occasion, issues aimed at deepening relations between Angola and Burundi in the political, diplomatic, social and economic areas were addressed.
Furthermore, new areas of common interest were identified, with the aim of strengthening existing cooperation relations between the two countries in various areas, namely in the sectors of Defense, Public Order, Security, Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources, Industry, Commerce, Oil, Gas, Environment, Transport, Hospitality and Tourism.
Angola and Burundi enjoy relations of friendship and solidarity that date back to the beginnings of the country's independence.
Diplomatic relations were initially established on December 21, 1988.
The two states maintain between them a general agreement on economic, technical-scientific and cultural cooperation, as well as the agreement on political and diplomatic consultations.
