Rio de Janeiro - Angola and Brazil have decided to relaunch bilateral cooperation at all levels, with an emphasis on the productive sector, with private business as the anchor.
The decision was taken on Sunday at a bilateral meeting between the Presidents of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, and the Federative Republic of Brazil, Luís Inácio Lula da Silva, on the eve of the G20 meeting, which is already taking place in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
President João Lourenço invited Brazilian businesspeople to invest in Angola, judging by the existence of a more attractive business environment.
During the meeting, which took place at the Copa Cabana Fort, the two statesmen discussed concrete issues linked to the global agenda, co-operation in the fields of health training, the pharmaceutical industry, agriculture, agro-industry, mineral resources, energy (electrification and extension of the medium voltage power line) and the financial sector.
The two heads of state discussed cooperation in the field of defence, particularly in the navy, within the framework of the South Atlantic.
For Lula da Silva, this bilateral meeting marks the relaunch of the relationship between the two countries in a more consistent, intense and vigorous way, in order to compensate for the long period of inertia between the two brotherly peoples.
