Lisbon - Angola unveiled Tuesday an honorary consulate at Vila Real city, Portugal.
The honorary consulate to be headed by Portuguese businessman António José Soares Coelho de Cunha, is the first one Angola has opened in that region and will also cover the cities of Viseu, Bragança and Guarda.
As honorary consul, António José Soares Coelho de Cunha is now a key element in attracting Portuguese investment from that region and the best placed interlocutor to transmit information about Angola's current situation.
António de Cunha said his action will focus on the quest to increase the number of local businesspeople and investors to invest in the Angolan economy and to facilitate operations of the Angolan entrepreneurs and investors in these regions of Portugal.
"The business environment in Angola today is much more transparent and facilitates investment and entrepreneurship, as it has been recognised by the IMF, international political leaders and non-governmental organisations that deal with this issue", Cunha said.
Honorary Consul, António José Soares Coelho da Cunha is 63 years old. He has dedicated much of his life to running successful businesses, most of them in Angola, located in Lunda Sul, but with branches in other provinces of the country.
Owner of Sete Cunhas – Construction and Public Works Company, António Cunha is also owner of Tintas Europa, in Portugal, and of some twenty other companies in Angola.
In 1979 he made the first of several prospecting trips to different countries. But for language reasons he decided to settle in Angola.
In 1985 he set up his first business, supplying building materials to Portuguese companies such as Mota Engil, Teixeira Duarte and Soares da Costa. Since then, it's been a story of enormous success, which has catapulted him into the role of Consul-Honorary in Vila Real, Viseu, Bragança and Guarda.
