Luanda - Angola will present the Periodic Report on the Implementation of the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and its Additional Protocol on the Rights of Women in Africa, at a meeting in Banjul, Gambia, set to kick off on Thursday (24).
This is the 81st Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, at which the country will also present reports on the implementation of the Maputo Protocol and the African Union Convention on the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa (Kampala Convention).
The reports prepared by the Intersectoral Commission for the Preparation of National Human Rights Reports of Angola, and sent to the Committee of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights, will outline the progress in these matters, legislative measures, institutional policies, the current human rights framework in Angola and its challenges.
In addition to others, the current context of Human Rights will be highlighted within the scope of the National Development Plan 2023-2027, strengthening the Human Rights Defense system, mainly with the implementation of the National Human Rights Strategy, achievements in access to justice and citizenship and the strengthening of the Dialogue with civil society.
The fight against domestic violence and the fight for gender equality, implementation of the rights of internally displaced persons, among others, will also be touched upon in the reports.
The dialogue between States representatives and members of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights will consist of the presentation of an Intervention by the Angolan State, to be delivered by the Minister of Social Action, Family and Women's Promotion, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto, in her capacity as head of the Angolan delegation.

This will be followed by the presentation of questions by the Members of the African Commission, with the opportunity for the State to respond or adopt the final report to be prepared by the Angolan State.
The Angolan delegation in Banjul includes the Secretary of State for Human Rights and Citizenship, Ana Celeste Cardoso Januário, and the Secretary of State for Preschool and Primary Education, Francisco Pacheco.
