Luanda - Angolan president João Lourenço has invited his counterparts of Rwanda Paul Kagame, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Félix Tshisekedi and Burundi Évariste Ndayishimiye for a summit on Rwanda-DRC conflict set for Monday (21st) in Luanda.
This is expressed in press note released by the Press Secretariat of the President of the Republic, adding that the Angolan Head of State also invited the former Kenyan statesman, Uhuru Kenyatta.
The document states that Luanda summit is expected to approve the Action Plan for Peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the
resumption of good relations with neighbouring Rwanda.
President João Lourenço addressed the invitation in his capacity as Champion of Peace and Reconciliation of the African Union, in charge of the issue related to the DRC-Rwanda conflict.
Angolan statesman travelled to Rwanda on Friday (11) and to DRCongo on Saturday (12) for dialogue with counterparts Paul Kagame and Félix Tshisekedi, as part of mediation of political and military tension.
In the meetings with counterparts, João Lourenço came up with proposals to adapt the Roadmap for Peace in Luanda to the new reality experienced on the border between the two countries.
João Lourenço, who chairs the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR), is also the African Union (AU) mediator in the crisis between
Rwanda and the DRC.
