Luanda - The National Assembly (AN) reaffirmed, on Thursday, 12, in Livingstone, Zambia, the commitment to the promotion of health, sexual and reproductive rights, HIV-AIDS and good governance, with the enactment of specific legislation.
According to MP Teresa Neto, who was speaking at the plenary session of the 56th Assembly of the Parliamentary Forum of the Southern African Development Community (FP-SADC), AN is also committed to working for gender equality, reducing premature marriages, early pregnancy and protecting vulnerable populations.
For the also president of the Group of Women Parliamentarians, the project is articulated around climate justice, democratic accountability and the implementation of human rights.
Within the framework of the project, he said, partnerships were established with the projects of the Gender Committee of the Ministry of Health, with UNICEF, as well as training and capacity building actions for FP-SADC researchers, awareness raising with the National Monitoring Group, among other actions.
The intention, according to the deputy, is the creation of synergies between governmental and non-governmental bodies to mitigate the problem of lack of health, sexual and reproductive rights, HIV-AIDS and governance.
The SADC FP Sexual and Reproductive Health (SHR), HIV-AIDS and Governance Project aims to ensure product safety in the context of the universal health regime, promote gender equality, eliminate child marriage, early and unwanted pregnancy and promote safe abortion, promote comprehensive sexuality education, protect vulnerable populations and marginalized groups, and promote democratic accountability and human rights.
The Angolan delegation to the 56th Plenary Assembly of the SADC Parliamentary Forum is led by President Carolina Cerqueira, and made up of MPs Pedro Sebastião, Ruth Mendes, Teresa Neto and Diamantino Mussokola. ART/DOJ
