Luanda - The National Assembly IT technicians are, since Tuesday, in Brasília (Brazil), in the first global meeting on good practices in the implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in parliaments.

According to the parliament’s press release, for three days, IT operators from several countries will deal with topics such as the "Use of discriminative and generative artificial intelligence in parliaments".

Likewise, they will address practices in the Brazilian, European, Italian and Norwegian parliaments, as well as innovation strategies for the 180 parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

The creation of AI labs and processes to guarantee ethical principles in the development of systems based on this tool for parliaments is also on the table.

Additionally, three working groups will be created to prepare a global guide of good practices for implementing artificial intelligence systems in parliaments.

It should be launched in November 2024, at the world conference of the Electronic Parliament (e-parliament).

At the end of the event, it is expected that parliaments will be able to take advantage of AI-based systems to improve the exchange of information between the Executive and Legislative branches, efficiency in transcribing documents, searching digital files and ensure greater citizen inclusion in the legislative process and interaction with deputies.
