Luanda - The Angolan parliament on Thursday in Luanda, approved proposals to amend the laws on International Judicial Cooperation in Criminal Matters and on Preventing and Combating Terrorism.
In an extraordinary plenary session, the MPs also approved proposed laws on money laundering, terrorist financing and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
These matters were approved in general debate, with no votes against, despite having generated several discussions, with the first passing with 177 approvals, the second with 168 and the last with 160.
In the report, the specialized committees expressed their support for the amendments, which brings the national legal framework into line with international best practice.
It also states that the aim is to provide the Angolan financial system with greater security, as well as to mitigate and identify risk factors, by strengthening institutional, internal and international cooperation.
The specialized committees said the objectives can be achieved by implementing and boosting rapid, dynamic, appropriate and proportionate assistance, cooperation and information-sharing mechanisms.
According to the report, the amendment bill on the prevention and fight against terrorism aims to preserve peace and internal and international security.
