Mbanza Kongo - The help given by the Cuban people to Angola in the most varied areas of social and political life, following the conquest of national independence in 1975, should serve as a legacy for the country's future generations.
This recognition is expressed in a message from the Zaire Provincial government, read out by the director of the Provincial Health Office, João Bernardo, at the 71st anniversary of the Assault on the Moncada Barracks and the Cuban Revolution, which is being marked on July 26.
According to the official, the education, health, construction, defense, industry and transport sectors, among others, are the most privileged areas in this cooperation, which dates back more than four decades.
“We hope that this cooperation will continue to be well preserved so that it can also serve as a source of inspiration for future generations,” he stressed.
The coordinator of the Cuban community in Zaire province, Miguel Campo Sanchez, on his turn considered the political and diplomatic relations between the two countries to be excellent and hoped that they would expand into other areas of cooperation.
“Cuba has had a relationship with Angola for over four decades. It began with ‘Operation Carlota', which consisted of helping the Angolan people to achieve their national independence,” recalled the representative of that Latin American country in Zaire province.
Miguel Campo Sanchez said that at least 30 Cuban citizens are currently living in Zaire province, providing services in the education and health sectors.
The celebrations included the screening of videos on the history of the Moncada Barracks Assault and Fidel Castro's role in the Cuban Revolution.
