Luanda – The abstention rate in the 2022 general elections stood at 55.18 percent, the National Electoral Commission (CNE) announced this Monday in Luanda.
When releasing the final results, CNE president Manuel Pereira da Silva said that of the 14.3 million registered voters, only 6.4 million citizens voted, equivalent to 44.82 percent of the total vote.
Manuel Pereira da Silva added that 7. 9 million voters did not participate in the process, corresponding to 55.18 percent.
He added that, of the total number of votes cast in the polls, 107,746 voters (1.67%) voted blank and 74,259 (1.15) were declared null.
In 2017, abstention stood at 23.43 percent.
