Luanda - Angola opened on Monday (June 12) a provisional office of Consulate in Toronto (Canada) to facilitate the residents in issuing and getting citizenship related documents.
According to the Consul General of Angola in Toronto, Mateus Barros José, the opening of the office is the result of guidelines from the Angolan Government and aims to prevent Angolans residing in Toronto and surrounding area from traveling to US cities, such as Washington DC, New York and Houston to handle and get documents.
Mateus Barros José ensured that the consulate should be seen as the “home of the Angolan citizen”, where everyone is welcome, without discrimination of any kind, including the reasons that led them to emigrate.
On the occasion, community members expressed their satisfaction with the opening of this institution.
The opening ceremony was attended by members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Canada, with emphasis on Brazil, Cuba, African Union, Argentina, Peru, Panama, El Salvador and Portugal. OHA/DOJ
