Luanda - The newly sworn in member of the Council of the Republic, Abel Chivukuvuku, said Thursday in Luanda that all valid ideas and suggestions should be taken to state bodies to solve the country's political and socio-economic problems.
The politician made the statement to the press shortly after being sworn in by the Head of State, João Lourenço, as a new member of the Council of the Republic, the advisory body to the Head of the Executive Branch.
“I've been appointed to the Council by the Head of State. The purpose is to serve Angola,” the politician said.
Abel Chivukuvuku was invited to join the Council of the Republic, following the death of councilor, journalist and writer, Ismael Mateus, in the capital in September, victim of a traffic accident.
As leader of the CASA-CE party, politician Abel Chivukuvuku served in the Council of the Republic from 2012 to 2019.
The Council of the Republic is a collegial advisory body to the Head of State, which includes the Vice-President of the Republic, the National Assembly Speaker, Attorney General, leaders of political parties with parliamentary seats, the Vice-President of the ruling MPLA and civil society organizations.
