Luanda – With the aim to celebrate 30 years of his career, the singer Yuri da Cunha will hold Saturday, in the province of Luanda, at Maré Nostrum venue, in Luanda island, a musical show named "Roda de Semba".
"Eternally grateful for this love that I receive everywhere in my country. I completed 30 years of my career and I want to thank everyone, without exception, for 30 years of struggle, music, art, glory and pure love", he wrote on his social network spot.
With the special participation of singers Paulo Flores, Euclides da Lomba and Prodígio.
As part of this celebration, the singer will also perform in the province of Huila on the 28th of this month, in the province of Namibe on the 29th also in the current month, in the province of Benguela on August, 5, in the municipality of Lobito, Benguela province on August 6.
Born on September 13, 1980, in the centre-west Cuanza-Sul Province, he began singing as a child, attending rehearsals of the band "Os Kwanzas", where his father, Henrique da Cunha "Riquito", was an excellent guitarist. At almost 10 years old, he distinguished himself in a street contest, called "Kutonina".
In Luanda, he received music lessons from Professor Manuel Costa "Makanha".
The musicians Bonga, Teta Lando, David Zé and Urbano de Castro, Eduardo Paim, Carlos Burity, André Mingas and Michael Jackson, are other musical influences of the singer, the latter also influenced him a lot in the art of dance.
In 1993 he joined the school of the public National Radio of Angola (RNA). On 1 June 1993, Yuri gave his first performance.
In 1996 he moved to Lisbon, Portugal and recorded his first CD album, entitled "É Tudo Amor" (It's All About Love), in the studios of the Valentim de Carvalho production company. In the same year he won the Portuguese Radio Television station (RTP) award for the best music video and best song of the year from the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP) in the Netherlands.
In 2004 with the song "Makumba" (Witchcraft) he won the "Top dos Mais Queridos" (Top of the Most Wanted), organized annually by the public National Radio of Angola (RNA).
In January 2005, he established himself in the Angolan music market after releasing his second album entitled "Eu" (Me).
Yuri da Cunha sings different styles of music such as semba, rumba and kizomba, sung in Portuguese and Kimbundo languages, of which the songs "Homem é Bom", "Njila", "Simão", "Kalundu" and "Está Doer", become the big hits on the radio and nightclubs and have achieved very significant sales.
