Namacunde - The Raízes Project launched, Wednesday, in the municipality of Namacunde, Cunene province, the process of cataloguing and demonstrating typical dishes and traditional dances, for the dissemination, promotion and enhancement of the cultural identity of the locality.
The information was provided to ANGOP by the national coordinator of the project, Fábio Gomes, noting that during five days of work in the province they will map the gastronomy and catalogue native products, for their dissemination and enhancement.
He said that the objective is to safeguard the habits and customs of the different regions of the province, through the rescue of traditional values that are fundamental for cultural identity and the development of society.
'The activity, held at the Oihole Tourist Compound, involves women from the community imbued with the preparation of typical dishes”, he emphasized.
Fábio Gomes said it is the second time they are in Cunene with the same purpose of valuing the cultural roots and identity of the people, to arouse people's interest and motivation for their own culture.
In her turn, the head of the Department of Culture, Historical Heritage and Traditional Communities in Cunene, Ana Lena, praised the initiative as a way to contribute to the cultural development and well-being of a society.
She stressed that culture is essential for a healthy society, as it helps people connect, learn and grow together.
The Roots project, created in 2023 in Luanda, aims to learn about the cultural reality of the people in Angola, map the gastronomy and catalog native products for their dissemination at a national level. PEM/LHE/SEC/DOJ
