Luanda - Mozambican writer Paulina Chiziane expressed Friday, in Luanda, her interest in working continuously with the Angolan publisher Mayamba, with a view to solidifying the literature of both countries.
The writer visited the publisher to find out how it works. In the end, without revealing much information, she said that, soon, she will have a literary work published by Editora Mayamba.
The aforementioned book will be released in July, with the title “Niketchi”, portraying the story of polygamy.
During the visit, Paulina Chiziane found out about the books that the Angolan publisher has already released. Regarding national literacy, the writer gave a positive note to its development, having highlighted that young Angolans have to learn from those who are more experienced, so that the country does not lose its progressive pace.
For his part, the director of the Mayamba publishing house, Arlindo Isabel, welcomed the visit of one of the most renowned women in African literature.
For Arlindo Isabel, Paulina Chiziane is a writer who has a very large social intervention. She considered the choice a recognition for everything Mayamba has done.
Paulina Chiziane was born on June 4, 1955, in the town-municipality of Manjacaze, Gaza province, Mozambique.
The 69-year-old writer has 13 published literary works. She is considered to be the first Mozambican woman to publish a novel in her
country and the first black woman to receive the Camões Prize.
In 2023, she was elected one of the hundred most influential women in the world.
