Luanda – The Angolan Parliament delegation on Tuesday in Brasilia, Brazil, took part in the musical show named “Senate 200 years – A Journey Towards the Future".
The Angolan delegation was led by the Parliament Speaker, Carolina Cerqueira, who is on a working visit to the South American country at the invitation of the Head of the Brazilian Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco.
At the cultural event that put together senators, deputies, diplomats, among other politicians and foreign guests, the values of the Brazilian Constitution in defence of democracy, the rule of law and fundamental freedoms were extolled, as well as the unity of the Federation and the states that make up the Union and Brazilian diversity.
The event, which is part of the bicentenary celebrations of the Federal Senate, was also attended by the Speaker of the Cabo Verde Parliament, Austelino Correia.
During the concert, which was conducted by João Carlos Martins, the Sesi-SP Bachiana Youth Orchestra performed pieces about Brazilian history and culture.
New technologies
Still on Tuesday, the Angolan delegation also took part in the international seminar "Democracy and New Technologies: challenges of the digital age", and the theme on "how to guarantee democratic values in the digital environment?", guided the second day of talks and debates at the international seminar.
The debates aimed to highlight the role of parliaments in the face of the current technological scenario, addressing issues such as artificial intelligence, regulation of digital platforms and disinformation.
Speaker Urs Gasser, from Harvard University in the United States and Munich University in Germany, emphasised the complexity of the issue.
The Angolan parliamentary delegation taking part in the Brazilian Senate's bicentenary days includes MPs Ângela Bragança, Vigílio Tyova and Américo Chivukuvuku.
