Luanda – A collective exhibition of plastic arts, called “Ler Saramago pela Arte” was opened this Tuesday, in Luanda, in an initiative of the Portuguese Cultural Centre, in Luanda (CCP), in partnership with the LiterArte project.
The project, which is in its 3rd edition, will be open from the 19th
of July to the 2nd of August, with the aim of combining literature and other arts, such as poetry, plastic arts and sculpture of young
Angolan artists.
In this edition, which aims to commemorate the centenary of the
Portuguese writer José Saramago, LiterArte presents 16 works, including painting and sculpture, created by eight young artists,
based on the chronicle of the writer entitled “As Palavras” (Words). For the 19 year-old plastic artist Laysa Marques, who painted Saramago's face in a peculiar technique that involved coffee powder, saffron and acrylic paint, participating in the project is a career achievement, taking into account the dimension that the frame has reached.
“I think that the initiative of this project will open doors for a
new wave of plastic artists, we hope for new opportunities after this exhibition”, she said.
On her turn, the 14-year-old plastic artist Tatiana Ana considered her participation in the project to be wonderful and
underlined that it is an opportunity to establish herself in the
future as a professional artist.
Alzira Simões, the leading exponent of the LiterArte project,
considers that the creative spirit of the artists, although young,
demonstrates the ability to interpret Saramago's words. “Only they themselves have the ability to explain why they did these works”, she said.
The works that aim to make the young artists known to the public can be visited from Monday to Thursday.
