Lubango - Twenty-eight works by the Spanish painter and sculptor, Pablo Picasso, from the collections 'Burial of the Count of Orgaz' and 'The Double Flute', have been on display since Tuesday at the Higher Institute of Education Sciences (ISCED) in Huíla.
The exhibition is part of the 122nd edition of the Festivities of Our Lady of Monte, which take place in the city of Lubango.
Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born in the city of Malaga in 1881, approached other genres such as drawing, engraving, book illustration, sculpture, ceramics and scenography for theatrical productions. He is co-creator of the Cubism art movement.
The exhibition of Pablo Picasso's lithographs, on display until the seventh of September, is an initiative of the insurance company ENSA and the Ibero-American University Foundation (FUNIBER), owner of the Collections, with support from the Spanish embassy.
The representative of FUNIBER, Maria Rodrigues, stressed that the exhibition shows the 'unapproachable' part of Picasso in his deep and constant evolution and is an example of cultural cooperation with the Angolan nation.
The representative of ENSA, Matilde Gabe, stressed that the Insurer has had initiatives for the promotion of the arts for several decades, in compliance with its social and cultural responsibility.
He pointed out as an example the ENSARTE Award, which since 1991 has publicized and rewarded the best art in the country.
The president of ISCED-Huíla, Helder Bahu, considered that the presence of this important exhibition provides an incentive to deepen the studies of these subjects and provide a space for temporary exhibitions on art.
The exhibition has already been presented in Luanda, at the Casa das Artes, in Talatona, last July and then goes to the provinces of Benguela and Bié. BP/MS/DOJ
