Saurimo – The music and dance festival in the eastern region of the country, called “Ngeya”, starts this Friday, in Largo do 1º de Maio, on the outskirts of the city of Saurimo (Lunda-Sul province), in an initiative by Catoca Mining Company.
Speaking to ANGOP, the project coordinator, Pedro Capumba, stated that the organization of the event is in the order of 99 percent and that all the conditions are created so that, within 24 hours, this show, which is in its third-year edition, can begin.
The event will bring together artists from the provinces of Lunda-Sul, Lunda-Norte and Moxico. It does not have a competitive nature, but rather recreation and leisure, allowing cultural exchange.
He informed that the initiative will feature eleven dance groups, three from provinces and two guests.
He stressed that the presence of more than four thousand spectators, including nationals and foreigners, is expected.
Despite not being competitive in nature, Ngeya allocates the amount of one million kwanzas to each participating group.
The project was launched in June 2022, in the province of Lunda-Norte. This year, it takes place under the motto “Uniting cultures, building legacies”. QB/JW/OHA/DOJ
