Luanda – Angolan musician Zé Maria Boyoth and the national band Ngolo Som will take part in Rwanda's international “Ikirenga” festival from 12th to the 18th of this month, at the invitation of the government of this African country.
At the international festival, the Angolan group will perform songs related to Semba, Kizomba and Kilapanga styles, in the vernacular languages Kimbundu, Umbundu and Lingala, as well as Portuguese.
According to musician Zé Maria Boyoth, the Angolan group will perform two shows, one in the city of Musenze and the other in Kigali. “We intend to make a worthy international appearance in this African country”.
Zé Maria Boyoth and his band will represent Angola in Rwanda for the first time, with African music dominating the festival, which is supported by UNESCO. This is the third edition of the Ikirenga festival, and other artists and bands from the African continent will be taking part in the event.
The band Ngola Som is made up of Bagueta, on drums and backing vocals, Francisco (keyboards and backing vocals), Djasten (guitar and backing vocals), Patrick (guitar), Jeremias (percussion), Gui Gui (bass guitar) and Helvy (backing vocals and classical guitar).
ZéMaria Boyoth was born on 10 May 1961, in the city of Ndalatando, in the province of Kwanza Norte.
