Doha – The Angolan Minister of the Environment, Ana Paula de Carvalho, on Monday in Doha, Qatar, highlighted the economic value of Museums.
Ana Paula de Carvalho said that in addition to providing knowledge about the history and culture of a country and people, the museums are tourist attractions that generate revenue.
The minister, who was speaking to ANGOP at the end of a visit to the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, stated that people go to museums to see the museum collection but end up buying some souvenirs, at commercial mall or others, leaving revenue for the country.
In turn, the deputy general commissioner of the Angolan commission for the Expo, Neuza Dias dos Santos, considered the Doha Museum of Islamic Art to be one of the largest of its kind.
She said it was a “very good” museum in terms of content, which gives a broad overview for those who participate in exhibitions, like us, due to the way the guides explain the meaning of the collection.
The Museum of Islamic Art is located at one end of the Corniche, which is seven kilometers long. It was built on an island near an artificial peninsula and traditional Dhow Harbour. ART/CF/DOJ
