Luena – The Tchianda dance and several cultural pieces, with emphasis on the Mwana Pwo sculpture, will be exhibited by young people from the Diocese of Luena, in the 1st Edition of the Youth Festival “Fest-Jovem 2024”, an initiative of the Catholic Church.
The aforementioned festival, which is expected to bring together around 10 young Catholics and others from across the country, will be organized by the Archdiocese of Luanda, between the 7th and 11th of August, with the motto “pilgrims of hope, rejoice in the Lord”.
Speaking to ANGOP, the spiritual assistant for youth in the Diocese of Luena, Loureiro João, said that like the other provinces in the east of the country, the five young people who will represent Moxico will extol the tradition and culture of that region.
He highlighted the importance of the event, which will provide moments of sharing, strengthening relationships, as well as contributing to the enhancement of the country's culture.
“The young people from our diocese are already mobilized, creating some songs in the Tchokwe language so that they can represent the region well”, he said.
The event, taking place under the auspices of the Archdiocese of Luanda, will also be marked by the presence of artists of different musical styles, as well as the presence of all the dioceses of the Episcopal Conference of Angola and São Tomé.
The event aims to create a public, civic, cultural and inter-religious demonstration among young people.
