Talatona - The Angolan Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, on Friday in Luanda, repudiated the crimes committed against believers by leaders of some religious confessions.
The minister made the statement while speaking at the opening of the 3rd edition of the Forum on “The Problem of the Religious Phenomenon and Its Implications in the Misdirection of Ethics and Values”.
He stressed that many confessions externalize their weak capacity to manage internal conflicts, especially between their leaders, opening factions that sometimes give rise to new Churches, or even sects.
He considered such behaviors, carried out by certain leaders, to be less noble and even deviant.
“The Intersectoral Commission for common religious affairs has brought numerous cases to the attention of the competent bodies”, he lamented.
Minister Filipe Zau stated that the behaviors carried out by ordinary people lead to the inference that the country is dangerously approaching a situation of social anomie that requires urgent intervention.
For the minister, such situations must lead citizens to change the way they think and act in relation to cases that arise within religious confessions that must constitute an example of social conduct in favor of peace, respect and dignity of the person human.
He added that the material desire for greed ends up overriding the spirit of solidarity and Christian humility.
“The religious cultures that we have become accustomed to should not give way to intentional distortions in the name of Christ and to the detriment of the principles leading to good religious and civic education for our children and grandchildren who will have the patriotic duty to continue an increasingly better Angola for all Angolans”, he said.
In his opinion, holding the forum between the Ministry of Culture and the Churches through INAR, aims to restore values aimed at good social coexistence, essential for development and well-being so that future generations do not inherit losses.
The meeting is attended by 150 participants, including legal representatives, spiritual leaders of various religious denominations, lecturers from the world of academia, religion, sociologists, jurists, anthropologists, philosophers, theologians, among others. Giz/MAG/DOJ
