Luanda - Angolan playwright and writer José Mena Abrantes highlighted, on Thursday, in Luanda, the quality of scenic works carried out in Angola, as a result of the diversification of themes covered by theatrical groups.
He was speaking in the space "Textual Age: Conversation with readers", promoted by Memorial Dr. Agostinho Neto.
Mena Abrantes said that the themes of scenic works have no longer been repetitive, which is resulting in the growing practice of theater at a national level, stressing that “The quality of scenic works emerges in quantity, through dialectics”.
On the occasion, he urged a new generation of Angolan writers to avoid rushing when publishing literary works, with a view to greater reflection on the content.
Playwright who is also known as the citizen of African theater, also said that what happens when the books are published ends up being disastrous.
He also advised all young people who want to become writers to focus on reading.
At the event, the writer read his poems to the public and spoke about his career in the world of writing as a poet and also highlighted the way he won national and international awards, with emphasis on the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP).
During a conversation with readers, despite poetry as word games, he communicates comprehensively, using few words.
The moment was lively with songs and poetry reciting.
Academics and readers took advantage of the moment to inform the playwright about the events that his works express.
"Textualidades Conversa com os Leitores" is a space created for conversations between writers and readers, in the process of literary communication. It aims to encourage intimacy with new authors, as well as establish greater proximity and interaction.
