Luanda – Angolan musician Walter Ananás presented massemba music show on Wednesday, at Memorial Agostinho Neto, in Luanda, with the aim of promoting this musical style.
The event had free entry, as part of the promotion of Angolan culture and this musical style.
“Being Angolan, I have to dedicate myself to the music of our country, to reflect the culture”, the musician highlighted.
Speaking to the press Walter Ananás said that the choice of this style arose from the need to rescue cultural values.
He added that musicians André Mingas, Gabriel Tchiema, among others, gave rise to the massemba musical style.
“The objective is to bring new things, but be inspired by older people”, emphasized Walter Ananás, for whom young people should be focused on the cultural essence, to recover the habits and customs of Angolans.
He explained that the artist has the possibility and freedom to immerse himself in art without, however, following the standards of science.
This is the first music show about massemba, an Angolan musical genre that contributed to the origin of semba, kizomba and other musical styles.
Massemba is considered as a great challenge for the new generation.
At the time, the head of the Cultural Office of the Agostinho Neto Memorial, Rigoberto Fialho, considered culture as a public servant, which is why his institution invited, among others, singers to provide the community with new melodies. AB/OHA/MRA/DOJ
