Luanda – An exhibition of 13 artworks, including photography and graphic design, is on display until December 8th, as part of the 35th edition of the São Paulo Art biennial.
The 13 Works belong to Angolan artists such as Raquel Lima, Carlos Bunga, Januário Jano, and others of Brazilian nationality.
The information was provided Monday, Sept 23, by the deputy-chair of the São Paulo Art biennial, Maguy Etlin, who also disclosed that the exhibition will last 3 months, marking a historical and cultural milestone between the people.
Regarding the films and curatorial content, she said that it aims to support the reading and interpretation of cultural details.
Regarding the initiative, the artistic director of the Afro-Brazil museum, Hélio Meneses, considered it a pride to bring the choreography to the province of Luanda, for historical reasons between the countries.
According to Hélio Meneses, there is a “linking bridge” between the two countries that covers culture, gastronomy, art, religion among others.
Recently, in a video conference, Brazil's minister of culture, Margaret Menezes, highlighted that the Biennial will serve to strengthen cultural ties between the people of the community of Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP).
Since 2011, a traveling exhibition program has been taking clippings and selections of works to cities in and out of Brazil with the aim of cultural promotion.
For the minister, there is a need to intensify cultural ties and democratize art.
The biennial kicked off on the 20th of this month. It has already been held in Argentina, Bolivia, and Brazil, and this time it came to Angola, Africa.
The 35th edition of the São Paulo Art Biennial is an initiative of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Guimarães Rosa institute.
